Tottenham was the home of Luke Howard, a man who was fascinated by the skies from childhood. Observing and drawing clouds over many years he came to recognise that there were different types of clouds and he named these. This was around 1802. He wasn’t a trained research scientist, but his clouds names have stayed with us and are used throughout the world today.
