I am an Artist and Storyteller interested in the interaction between humans and nature. The waterways of London fascinate me. The Tottenham canals were once integral to the industrialisation of the UK, and are now being reclaimed as living space; for people on the water and in redevelopments along the canalside, and by animals in the water, along the towpath and in the surrounding parks and nature reserve.
The starting point for my project for Canalology was moth chrysalids, I have been researching the form of different chrysalid structures through materials like clay, wire and resin to make sculptures for the festival. I have also been looking at different myths and folklore associated with moths and butterflies; these stories often explore big life themes including fragility, spirituality, change, beauty, love and death. I am developing a performance based on this research for Canalology.
